Santa Claus has made his return to Messenger Kids, loading up his sleigh with a host of other holiday-related features.

Parents in Australia, Canada and the U.S. can message their kids as Santa, with North Pole as the location, and receive return messages, with those message threads remaining open through Jan. 6.

Only the parent who created the Messenger Kids account can activate, control and use the Santa experience with their child.

Once it is activated, Santa will show up as a contact for the child and a thread for the parent.

Parents will not receive notifications when their kids respond to Santa “in order to preserve the magic,” and the Santa Experience can be turned off at any time.

To activate the Santa experience, parents can go here or visit the Controls tab in their Parent Dashboard.

At this point, they can tap Add Santa for every child that they want to share the experience with.

Messenger Kids also rolled out a series of seasonal augmented realty effects, stickers and frames celebrating Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas.

Finally, parents in Canada and the U.S. can send customizable digital holiday card to their kids via the Parent Dashboard, by tapping Send a Card under Resources and Tools.

The cards will be sent from the parent’s Messenger account to the child’s Messenger Kids inbox.
